Alleged Stalker Questioned: 'Yet Imagine I Could Be Madeleine?'
A individual indicted with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has persistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.
On Monday, the court was told call records and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during the past two years.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and remains open.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate voicemail, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.
The panel was informed that via emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a bid to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.
The investigator, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who compiled the information, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also reached out to family friends of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On 9 October 2024, the father responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."
During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I will prove my claim."
The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in last December.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the months before the trip to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
The court learned correspondence between the two defendants, in November 2024, discussing trying to acquire Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from utensils at a dining venue.
"We must take action," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the appearance to their house, Mrs Spragg sent a text which stated: "We find ourselves sat adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our lights out like investigators. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The case proceeds.
