President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Members to the White House
President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
