Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
