The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
